Everything you need to know about Putney

When you search for Putney online Google will tell you it’s a lively area with Pizza shops and Bars around the river and its starting point for the annual university Boat Race. But we at Number One Carpet Cleaning have worked and some of us have lived in Putney since 2012 and we can tell you more about this area of South West London. Putney SW15 it is relatively large residential area for London and it`s very diverse. And the actual SW15 postcode area is one of the largest inner London areas as it includes Roehampton too with University of Roehampton and Roehampton Club.

Putney is one of the few areas that are next to the river Themes and have its own bridge – Putney Bridge.

Along the river is Putney Embankment where you will find pubs, restaurants – the unique Thai Square Putney and number of world famous rowing clubs such as London Rowing Club that was established in 1856, Westminster School Boat Club, Dulwich College Boat House and the iconic Club Venue House - Thames Rowing Club.

The area between Putney Embankment and Lower Richmond Road and its 12 parallel road from Thames Pl all the way up to Commondale is made of attached 2 and 3 bedroom houses. Then at the west end of it, towards Barnes is the beautiful Putney Common. Lower Richmond road is village type high street with tiny coffee shops, restaurants, farm shops, and the well-known in SW London Parson`s Nose butcher at 88 Lower Richmond Road. Except good food and coffee, you can also find all kinds of shops, Shell Petrol Station, estate agents and even a couple of small galleries, in a few words everything that you need at your high street in Putney.

Going south the attached properties architectural style continuous up to Hotham Rd SW15 where we start to see bigger detached properties. Here you will also find Hotham Hall SW15. This large family-oriented area has three primary schools - St Mary's C of E Primary School, Putney, Hotham Primary School on Charlwood Rd, Putney, London SW15 1PN and Our Lady of Victories Catholic Primary School.

Putney is the perfect area for families with all the schools, nurseries and Putney Leisure Centre

This area borders with Upper Richmond Road SW15 on the south and Putney High Street on the east.

After Upper Richmond Road is our favorite part of Putney. Wide streets with plenty of trees, large houses with massive gardens. The upper class of Putney residents. The long Chartfield Ave and Hazlewell Rd and all the mansions like houses on Genoa Ave, Larpent Avenue, SW and Castello Ave, London.

When you keep going south towards Wimbledon you get to ex council residential estate – Ashburn Estate with the massive Ark Putney Academy on Pullman Gardens and Granard Primary School. The estate is made of just over one thousand flats within 3 major roads – Tildesley Rd, Cortis Rd and Hayward Gardens. In between the five stories blocks of flats on Tyldesley Rd you will find a number of off license shops and our friends from Printing Planet UK - Custom T-shirt Printers in London that does our branded clothing.

Then we get the Putney Heath – open green space with lots of trees. Hided in the heath you will find Putney Heath Cricket Ground where every Sunday you can see upcoming Cricket athletes practise.

The best kept secret of Putney is Putney Village. Right between all the green of Putney Heath are two flat estates - Highlands Heath and Wildcroft Manor. The village with its only 3 streets - Portsmouth Rd, Heathview Gardens and Telegraph Rd has no more than forty houses.
